4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Works like a charm, August 28, 2007 This review is from: StarTech.com THINTOS10 10 feet Toslink Digital Optical SPDIF Audio Cable (Electronics) At first I was concerned about the word "thin" in the description. I thought the cable might be particularly fragile. However, this has not been the case.

After clumsily running the cable from point A to point B and subsequently tugging on it accidentally when moving things around it still works just fine. Of course, I would never advise putting unnecessary stress on a TOSLINK cable, but I'm simply saying that if it has survived my ownership, it will probably survive yours.

Not late. Optical cables are simple, this one is sub par. One end is malformed, but passes digital signals. Not reliable at staying in optical port. Do not recommend this provider. The extra length is needed for my sprawling setup. I doubt if StarTech manufactures these, but they seem to work as well as what Frontier Design shipped with their Dakota audio card -- though it is probably hard to tell the difference without expensive measurement gear. Logitech Wireless Wave Combo Mk550 With Keyboard and Laser Mouse (920-002555) (Personal Computers) newly tagged "computer"

Most Helpful Customer Reviews

106 of 107 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars High Quality, Very Quiet. Wireless receiver is TINY!, August 25, 2010 This review is from: Logitech Wireless Wave Combo Mk550 With Keyboard and Laser Mouse (920-002555) (Personal Computers) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) I am very impressed with this product. I have used many, many keyboards and wireless mice over the years and this keyboard / mouse combo really are excellent. They both look and feel high quality with a soft rubberized coating on the mouse and the keyboard wrist wrest.

I have been using a Microsoft Natural keyboard 4000 for the ergonomics and convenience buttons. This Logitech keyboard is MUCH, MUCH quieter and the spacebar is much easier to press. In addition, I think that the convenience buttons (like the volume control, media center launcher, etc) are much easier to see and use on this Logitech Keyboard than the Microsoft Natural keyboard. I will say that I occasionally thought that I noticed a bit of a delay with the keys I typed not showing up on the screen instantly. I'm not sure if I can blame that on the keyboard or not, but whatever the case it wasn't something that caused me enough of a problem to knock a star off the rating. Since I'm now using this keyboard as my keyboard I'll update this review if it becomes problematic.

The mouse is a good size and fit. It does not have an ergonomic slant to it where your hand is tilted a bit to give your wrist a more natural positions, but my thumb and ring finger just seemed to go perfectly into the grooves and the convenience buttons worked well. This is the first optical / laser mouse I've had that doesn't light up. No red glow, but it is works great!

The one thing that you need to know about this product is that it is really what I would call an ergonomic "blend" product. By that I mean that the keyboard is more ergonomic than a standard straight keyboard and the keys are very easy to press, but it definitely is not as ergonomic as a keyboard with a true split keyboard that is angled up in the middle. This will be completely up to your preference of which style you prefer and the product marketing material makes it very clear that this keyboard is more ergonomic than a standard but doesn't require learning how to type again. I would say that is true. I've used various split style ergonomic keyboards for years where the keys are literally split along the T-G-B keys for the left hand and Y-H-N keys for the right hand. I like that style and may go back to it, but often people will sit down to use my split style keyboard and find that they can't type very well. With this Logitech keyboard, my wife noticed that there is a bit of a difference from her regular keyboard due to the bit of ergonomics factored into "wave" of the keyboard, but it didn't seem to cause problems for her to type. So to that end, I suppose that the product works as advertised and isn't a reason to knock a star off, but you definitely should beware that it isn't as ergonomic as some keyboards on the market, such as the Microsoft Natural Keyboard.

I have to rave about the wireless receiver. It is the smallest receiver I've ever seen. It really is about the size of thumbtack and the single receiver works for both the keyboard and mouse. The mouse has a little slot for storing the receiver, so it can be safely stowed away. I was very impressed by the fact that I plugged it in, pulled the battery tapes out of both the keyboard and mouse and everything instantly started working (I use Windows 7). That was all it took to get most of the functionality working. Most of the extra functionality buttons like volume control worked immediately. I did end up installing the software from the CD to get the last few buttons to work, but that was no big deal. I stood back about 12 feet to see if the receiver would work from that distance and it worked fine.

I am impressed with the build quality, the quietness, the small receiver, and how easy it was to get started with it. I also liked that Logitech included the Duracell batteries pre-installed in the keyboard and mouse, with only having to pull a tab to activate them (Note: the keyboard and the most each take 2 standard AA batteries). I would prefer a keyboard that has a bit more of an ergonomic split to it, but I also know that many people can't stand that style of keyboard. So perhaps this keyboard is a pretty good blend or ergonomics and ease of use for most people. In the end, you probably would be wise to go try it out in the store to see if you really like how it feels. If you like the feel of it, then I think you'll be really happy with how well it works once you get it home.

50 of 53 people found the following review helpful: 4.0 out of 5 stars Best for office workers and/or those who do a LOT of writing. [Plus a comparison with the half-priced MK320], August 30, 2010 This review is from: Logitech Wireless Wave Combo Mk550 With Keyboard and Laser Mouse (920-002555) (Personal Computers) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) This is certainly a well made unit, and its ergonomic "wave" form really is pleasant when doing hours of writing, as is its rubbery, vaguely faux-leather rest for the heel of the hands. Having also just got the new Logitceh MK 320, I'd have to say it delivers very similar quality in most ways to this, and is probably a better wireless value for the average user. If you write all day, however, the MK 550 might have your name on it.

Like the 320, this is a breeze to set up: pull out the tabs under the pre-installed batteries, plug in the (super small) usb wireless receiver, and off you go. That's nice. (The included cd is for customizing some of the function keys and won't be used by many is my guess.)

The first thing you notice about this keyboard is how large it is, almost 50% bigger than the average wireless kb. Most of that room is used by the palm rest. If I was a perfect touch typist, this might be the ultimate kb; it seems to be designed with the pro typist in mind. But I'm merely ok, and one thing I've already noticed here is that the wave is a little disconcerting when you move your hands about a bit, as I do. The contours make it a bit odd coming down on a key at an angle. I find myself longing at times for the smaller, tighter, flatter setup of the 320. If I was a perfect typist who rarely looks at or moves my hands, that might not be the case. Which are you?

The mouse is much larger than the 320's mini-mouse, which bothered some reviewers here, but didn't faze my medium large hands. This is a heftier, contoured mouse and certainly feels more solid, with a smart pair of buttons for your thumb to go back and forth between the previous pages. (Without cookies on, this could be a negative, though...whoops, I accidentally lost my whole document!) My qualm with this mouse vs. the 320's is that you need to move it twice as far to take the cursor from one edge of the screen to the other. I prefer the tighter ranger of the smaller mouse, but many might prefer this mouse for its more standard size and contours.

All in all, as an ergonomic keyboard this is easier to use than a split kb for a new user, but the wave feel does take some getting used to for those who always use a flat kb. The back tabs also lift it up a fair bit, so much so that your hands are angled a little higher than the 320 or most kbs, which if one is typing all day might take more blood out of the hands than desired unless your desk sits very low. I find myself having to shake my hands out a bit more using the 550. But the keys have a nice travel, maybe a tad long but with a very nice spring to them, and they're a pleasure to type with.

The dedicated function buttons for wmp and your home page etc from the 320 are here too, mute and volume included, and a few extra ones as well. I like that feature a lot, as I listen to music all the time. Logitech designers, well done. Every kb needs those.

All told, I think this is a very fine keyboard for the serious, all-day typist. The mouse is also excellent. They're both quite solid and feel like they'll last for quite a few years. And if the promises are correct, battery life of over two years for both kb and mouse is pretty amazing. The wireless aspect makes life a lot easier as well; being able to lean back and use the kb in your lap for a while is a good option, especially if your back needs a rest now and then.

If you don't type too much, just for emails on occasion, I'd go for the smaller 320 kb/mouse combo at less than half the price. But for those who almost live at their computer and do hours of writing a day, the MK 550 could make your life a whole lot easier.

[Edit: 4/21/11. Just thought I'd share battery life specs; the two alkaline batts included with the keyboard just went dead after roughly 750 hours' usage. Which seems a pretty fair deal, all told. I'll be replacing them with rechargeables, as with most all of my devices. I left the originals in so I could share their lifespan here; hope it's useful to some folks.

Still enjoying using the keyboard. It's a good one; no complaints at all.]

20 of 22 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable with just the right spring to the keys, August 27, 2010 This review is from: Logitech Wireless Wave Combo Mk550 With Keyboard and Laser Mouse (920-002555) (Personal Computers) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) This keyboard and mouse were drop dead easy to setup and use. Pull the sticker off the USB transmitter and plug it in to a USB slot. Pull out the tab keeping the battery from making contact on the bottom of the keyboard and the bottom of the mouse and you are up and running. I didn't even both with unplugging the wired keyboard and mouse. I'm using a Lenovo W500 Thinkpad running Windows XP and everything worked without a hitch. I had expected to have to install a driver or something but nope.

How does it work? I have not detected any kind of lag from either the keyboard nor the mouse. The mouse moves smoothly over my desktop and is contoured to fit my somewhat largish hands (large for a woman - about the size of an average to small man's hand). The wheel works fine in scrolling the windows up and down and I like the forward and back buttons on the side of the mouse. The groove where your thumb rests is lined with a nonslip padding. If you are left handed, you can still use this mouse comfortably but might feel awkward using the forward and back buttons.

The keyboard, which I'm using as I type this review, is contoured as you can see in the pictures. The wrist pad is the same, nonslip material as is on the mouse and feels good under the heel of my hands. It has three levels that you can set the keyboard on - flat on the desk and two different raised hights. I have it set on the highest and am very comfortable. It has an enlarged delete key that I thought was odd at first but works well for the touch typest. I've played with the special programmed key and yes, the calculator button really does pop up the calculator, the media center button brought up iTunes (my default). The volume buttons worked straight out of the box as well (as expected). I really like the springiness of the keys and am reminded almost of the very first IBM keyboards that came with PCs in the 80s without the click.

When I am done for the day, I flip the keyboard over to turn it off to reserve battery power but it claims the battery will last for 3 years in the keyboard and 2 years in the mouse. Because they aren't physically attached to my docking station, I can easily take my mouse and keyboard with me to meetings and type in comfort with a full sized keyboard. I have t admit, several of my coworkers are jealous and will be buying their own soon.

Razer Naga Epic Gaming Mouse (Personal Computers) newly tagged "computer"

Most Helpful Customer Reviews

139 of 145 people found the following review helpful: 3.0 out of 5 stars Now with macro support!, October 8, 2009 ** This review has been revised for the release of the 2.0 drivers, which enable full key remapping and macro support. THANK YOU RAZER! **
** Please consider this a 5/5 star review. For some reason, Amazon isn't allowing me to change that aspect of my review and I would like to keep the comments on this product review rolling. Sorry for any confusion this may cause. **

My first impressions review of the Razer Naga was pretty grim. Having come from using a Logitech G7 for years prior, the Naga felt clunky at best and the complete lack of any key rebinding support for a mouse intended for MMO use left me scratching my head. In the days following that initial review, Wave of team Naga left me a comment (as seen in the comments section of this review) stating that they were intending to address the later with an upcoming driver release. A few months later, just as he had promised, version 2.0 hit... and it hit hard!

Before I get into all that, let me tackle the ergonomics. As I mentioned, at first I felt this mouse to be very clunky. Now, months later, I could not have been more wrong. When they said this mouse was designed for long gaming sessions with minimal hand fatigue, they meant it. My only real complaints in this department is about button placement. No, no, not the 12-button thumb pad... those are perfect! My beef is with the two additional index finger buttons, which for me, are at best awkwardly placed and at worst completely unusable.

But lets cut the nonsense, if you are reading this you care about one thing and one thing only... the 12 buttons on the side of this bad-boy.
I'll be straight with you, at first it is awkward as hell and comes with a bit of a learning curve. Don't expect to pick this mouse up and be some kinda of button-pressing Mozart by morning. Now months after my purchase I am still second guessing myself from time to time when reaching for the 8 and 9 key, mostly because I don't use them in very many games. As I alluded to earlier in this review, they are placed such that I don't have any issue at all reaching any one button (though 11 and 12 require a funky move that can mess with my cursor precision.)

The 2.0 driver also brought with it two additional features that came as a bit of a surprise to me... profiles and macros! The profiles are just what you would expect and though very basic in their functionality, the macros should get the job done nine times out of ten. If you are familiar with the Logitech G15 or Nostromo N52, then you know what I am talking about. If not, well, it's little more than pre-recorded keystrokes with custom delays between them. Nothing fancy, but far from useless.

Now that the issue of rebindable keys has been taken care of, I struggle to find anything at all wrong with this mouse.
If I absolutely had to give it a con, hmmm... I suppose it requires a bit more care than other mice in order to keep clean. Lots of buttons means lots of places for build up. Fortunately the fit/finish on this mouse is tight enough that cleanup is a breeze.

Happy grinding/fragging/whateveryouneed17gloriousbuttonsfordoing!

60 of 65 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, the mouse I've been waiting for!, October 1, 2009 Edit: I've stopped playing WoW so much and have been playing other types of games recently. Now that the buttons can be remapped this mouse works well for any game. It's great for shooters because I can swap weapons without having to reach for the F-keys. I've grown to appreciate how ergonomic it is. It fits my hand perfectly. I'm fully acclimated to the button placement and can hit the right one without thinking. Razer was right that it takes 15-20 hours for it to become second nature. I have found that for my short fingers only 9 of the 12 thumb buttons are an easy reach. I try to put the less important functions on the top row.

As an avid WoW player I'm always on a quest for mice with more buttons. MOAR! Most mice are limited to 5 mappable buttons that my fingers can actually reach. Some do cram more buttons on the mouse but place them in awkward locations that are only practical for infrequently used functions. I had high hopes for the SteelSeries WoW branded mouse but it's built poorly and the thumb buttons are hard to press individually without fat fingering the next button. Another mouse I wanted to like was the Sandio 3D but it's way too large for my hand. Plus, the hat switches are good for movement but not so good for mapping to four individual functions. I've been using Logitech MX series mice that have 8-9 mappable buttons. These are comfortable and the software is very flexible in how the buttons are mapped. I've been content with them but am always looking for more.

Enter the Razer Naga. I thought this was a Photoshop joke when I first saw the picture. But they really have put a cell phone style keypad on the thumb side for a total of 17 buttons. What's amazing is they've done this while keeping the mouse a reasonable size and having all but one button within easy finger reach. The mouse feels very high quality. It's very comfortable with good tactile feel. The scroll wheel is the nicest I've ever used. It's clear that Razer puts a lot of effort into creating a functional design, not just something that looks good in the box. My only complaint about the physical aspect is that it's rather lightweight.

The thumb buttons will take getting used to and I'm still working on it. I'm not going to raid with it out of the box because I don't want people to die. But even after a short while playing around with it in battlegrounds I'm improving and I can tell that the muscle memory will build up quickly until it feels natural - just like with a keyboard or gaming pad. Thoughtfully, Razer includes rubbery stick on nubs that you can place as tactile landmarks to train yourself. Razer claims 88% of gamers are fully comfortable after 18 hours of play.

The Windows driver is simpler and less flexible than I expected. The thumb buttons map to either the number row above the keyboard or the right number pad. The 5 main buttons map to the standard windows Left/Right/Middle/Back/Forward actions. There is no custom button mapping. Razer expects you to use an in game interface to map your actions to the fixed buttons. This is fine for WoW but could be a limitation on other games.

Razer supplies a custom WoW addon that is available at [...]. It's just a branded version of Dominos - an established addon. It's good that Razer licensed something that is fully featured and well tested rather than creating something new that probably wouldn't be as good. I'm unable to use it, however, because it conflicts with Bartender4. There is no need to use the Razer addon as the mouse is just acting like 12 keyboard buttons. Since the default behavior is to just map the 12 numbers above the keyboard you could just use standard WoW action bars and keybindings with zero configuration.

If it's not clear by now, I think this is a great product. I've been waiting for a mouse like this for 5 years and Razer has delivered!

4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars Great Card. Better Price, March 1, 2008 This review is from: Diamond Stealth ATI Radeon HD 2400 PRO 256MB PCIE GDDR2 Video Card (Personal Computers) Few things to consider when buying this graphic card, it only has 256mb ddr2 and its not as fast as the 2600pros in core speed or memory speed, however for 50$ and with direct x 10 support this card has some serious power, on my system it ran Unreal Tournment 3 with all settings maxed out, and ran it well. You can run Crysis on high but you will suffer quite abit of frame rate loss. It comes down to cost and quality, the 512mb version of this card is over double in price at the same speed, so 50$ for HD 2400pro with direct x 10 is not just a card well bought its one of the best deals on the net right now. Diamond Stealths page has this same card for 120$ thank you amazon. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you?

After researching all available video cards, I purchased the ATI HD 2400 Pro. The new card works great and was easy to install. It was also the best value price wise compaired to other cards with similar features and specs.
Now I can watch all my blu-ray collection on my computer. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you?

Thing is, couldn't get the tv to detect the signal from the s-video out. Turns out the VGA and s-video cant be used simultaneously. You have to use DVI and s-video or DVI and VGA. So don't spend hours scouring the internet and downloading drivers like I did to try to get it to work any other way. Good news, DVI/VGA adapter is included in the box, I guess I didn't take the hint. Works beautifully once you get it running. XP detected the card automatically, didn't have to disable on board video. Worth the money! Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you?

The primary point is that this camera is not Skype certified, but performs better than a skype certified camera. This camera DOES DO 720p in Skype at 30FPS as opposed to the flagship certified Skype camera which does only 22FPS. This camera has great video and audio for a webcam. It does 720p in skype, Windows Live Messenger BETA, and Logitech Vid HD. I was reluctant to buy another HD webcam after the disappointment of both the Microsoft Lifecam Cinema HD and the FaceVsion Touchcam N1. But this is the first HD camera that feels like it.

Installation was a breeze, it took less than 3 minutes to install. I am using it in a Windows 7 OS 64-bit environment. Unlike most webcam installations, this one was up and running in no time. It has a user-friendly and a very easy to navigate interface/menu. High Definition is pretty much the norm for resolution qualities now-a-days. The Logitech C910 I consider is the "high-end" webcam for the average user. The webacm sits on my 23 widescreen monitor, it balances perfectly on my monitor even though it does not have a clip. However, this might not work so well with laptops.

5 MP HD sensor takes crystal clear snapshots using 10 mega pixels (software enhanced), not even my digital camera is that high in mega pixels. The webcam is not as high quality using it on video chat (HD 720p), but it still beats the other webcam I was using before. I really don't think I will be using the video recorder feature often since I really can't see a need to record myself sitting in front of my desktop but I decided to try it anyways. When I tested the picture quality recording a video, it was clear (HD 1080p) and the sound was superb. Check out the attached video review for yourself (please disregard my Spanglish accent). The videos are saved in .wmv format. The widescreen lens allows a wider camera view compared to the average "square box" - so much more fits in the camera's view. The LightRight 2 technology automatically adjust the lighting conditions in the camera's view, no need to be fusing around with the settings.

It offers a 60-day trial of Logitech FastAccess facial recognition software. You can subscribe for this service that offers facial recognition to access Internet banking, email, etc without the hassle of remembering all your passwords. It can also lock your system to avoid use from unauthorized individuals.

Another awesome fun feature is the Logitech Video Effects. You can use Avatars that will follow your movements and mimic your speech as you chat with your friends. Add face accessories and masks to snapshots or video chat. Distort your image by adding visual video affects like stretching your face, big buggy eyes or distorting the color. There are tons of features to choose from and you can even download additional avatars and accessories direct from Logitech free of charge.

The webcam even offers a motion sensor feature that you can set up to record with a date and time stamp when there is any movement in front of the camera.

Overall great webcam. Major improvement to the Logitech QuickCam Pro I was using before. The Logitech Quickcam Pro offered most of the features listed on the C910, but now I have HD widescreen quality with vivid colors and superb resolution.

419 of 448 people found the following review helpful: 5.0 out of 5 stars A handy little camera, July 17, 2010 This review is from: Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 (Personal Computers) Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?) Length:: 2:19 Mins

We tried out the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 and we love it. The picture quality is not quite as good as that of our Nikon video camera, and the photo editing software is not as good as the standalone program we bought -- but that's not a flaw in the camera or its software. That's comparing it with different kinds of products.

For video chat, it's perfect, and as you can see from this video review, it does a very good job of creating videos. Check out an example of an edited video here: [...] We did this entirely with the webcam, edited it and uploaded it to YouTube, and embedded it into our web page. We never had to look at the documentation or help, either -- it was incredibly easy. It took just about an hour, counting opening the boxes, installing the cameras, deciding on a topic for our experimental video, shooting it, editing it, and getting it onto the web page.

In later uses, we've found that some situations require an additional microphone, and we've gone back to iMovie for most of our editing, but we're using the camera regularly for video filming and for video chat.

I can say with confidence that it is possible to use this camera right out of the box with no additional hardware, software, or training, and to get good results.
